Power Division pushes forward work of Six Sigma Black Belt (photo)

On April 27, Sinotruk Power Division announced the work of Green Belt upgrading Black Belt and the implementation of correspondent Black Belt project of Sinotruk Power Division formally drew prologue.

On the project training conference, Hu Bokang, general manager of Power Division proposed: “after the training course, I hope all trainees achieve the purposes of self-training, self-implementation and self-improvement of Six Sigma so as to realize the strategic target of ‘high-quality and low-cost’ of the company, really enhance the core competitiveness of Sinotruk engines and achieve the rapid development of Sinotruk”.

Two advisers Wang Hedong and Chu Xiaozhan from Qualisys Consultancy Services (Shen Zhen) Co., Ltd. were invited to attend the course.  Executive advocates from Power Division Jinan Engine Division and Fuqiang Power Co., Ltd., Six Sigma commissioners and finance commissioners, trainees attending Black Belt project training from Hangzhou Engine Co., Ltd. and Chongqing Fuel System Co., Ltd. together discussed the problems existing in management system in 2007 and the new problems to face and solve in 2008 and suggested securing pushing-forward the work of Six Sigma in terms of organization.

In 2007, Power Division established Six Sigma management system, executed Six Sigma Green Belt training and totally established 41 Green Belt projects, of which 39 were implemented, 32 passed the final evaluation and 11 won Excellent Project of Power Division.  Totally 79 persons took part in the first term of Green Belt training and 55 won Green Belt certification with 70% certificated.  The project covers increasing the ability of machining operation and reducing non-performing rate; equipment stopping due to breakdown and parts size rework controlling; the quality of key assembly operation, pre-performance test check passing rate control and solving after sales quality problems such as high water temperature, burning engine oil, breaking brackets and so on.  Elites of all quality-technology departments including quality chiefs of four main factories and in-house parts makers, managers of technology and quality departments and directors of branch factories personally went to the course and held the post as project group leader. At the same time, problems to solve in the project-overcoming also provided a talent displaying stage for young engineers and technicians.  After final financial check, the benefit of entire Engine Division was 15.89 million yuan.  At the same time, by introducing the mature and advanced quality management system to improve efficiency, to promoting method, to increase productivity, to improve product quality, and to raise problem-solving ability of the staff, Engine Division initially has created continuous improving corporate culture so as to meet international quality level and keep up with international level.

In 2008, Engine Division totally selected 17 Black Belt projects and 45 Green Belt projects. By bringing up its own Black Belt staff, Engine Division is to provide candidates for the next step of Black Belt Master training.  At the same time, Black Belt trainees are to realize the purposes of self-training, self-implementing and self-improvement of Six Sigma.
