Hangzhou Engine Company launches second phase project of relocation (photo)

On April 18, Sinotruk Hangzhou Engine Company held grand ceremony for starting the relocation project of the relocation and construction of the Foundry Factory of Sinotruk Hangzhou Engine Company, total investment of which is 570 million yuan, covering an area of 230 mu, with annual capacity of 70,000 tons of casting parts including cylinder block, crankshaft case, cylinder head and etc.  That indicates that the relocation and construction of Sinotruk Hangzhou Engine Company has stepped on a new stage, and the foundry will guarantee a strong foundation for the company to be able to reach the target of producing 10,000 engines and more annually, which will positively promote the automotive and component industry of Hangzhou and Xiaoshan district as well as the development of Sinotruk and domestic automotive industry.

Wang Donghui, vice secretary of CPC Sinotruk Committee, Wang Weimin, secretary of the Work Committee of Xiaoshan Economic and Technological Development Zone Administration Committee, Zhou Maochang, deputy director of Xiaoshan Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee, Zou Zhonghou, chairman, party secretary and general manager of Sinotruk Jinan Commercial Truck Co., Ltd., Wang Gensheng, Engine Supervisor of Sinotruk (Hong Kong) Limited and general manager of Engine Sales Division, Ding Yueda, executive vice president of the Fourth Machine Industry Design and Research Institute, and Li Hongzhen, director of Hangzhou Power R&D Center of Sinotruk Jinan Technical Center Co. ,Ltd., and so on were invited to attend the ceremony; Leaders from Hangzhou Engine Company and nearly 300 staff representatives of the company participated in the ceremony witnessing together another grand affair in the history of company development.

At 10:18 AM, Li Kekuan, general manager and secretary of the party committee of Hangzhou Engine Company declared the starting ceremony that the relocation and renovation project of the foundry factory began formally.  In a warm applause, Hu Bokang, chairman of Hangzhou Engine Company made an enthusiastic speech: “after the overall relocation of the main workshop area at Ban Daohong and through the implementation of series of preparatory work ahead such as selecting the foundry factory site, evaluation on environment, setting up project, investigation and study, design tendering, base construction and so on, the construction of the new factory area of the foundry factory will have its first stake wedged into ground and formally start this afternoon”.  “One year later, with the completion of the construction of the new plant of the foundry factory, a complete and modern new Hangzhou Engine Company will proudly stand on the south bank of Qiantangjiang River, which will make new and greater contribution to the development of local automotive industry and component industry as well as the development of Sinotruk and domestic automotive industry.

In 1994 the foundry factory of Hangzhou Engine Company was moved to present Shixiang Road from South Hushu Road in downtown.  With the construction of the technical renovation projects of the 7th Five -Year Plan and the 8th Five- Year Plan and continuous investment of the technical renovation in recent years, the present production capacity of the foundry factory has reached to 30,000 tons for engine casting parts.  The foundry factory, not only has 50 years’ long history but also now still possesses domestically advanced level in the quality of producing different kinds of grey cast iron and ductile cast iron, and has accumulated sound technical foundation in research areas such as modeling material, casting process, cast iron material and so on, in which the crankshaft made of QT900 -2 Ductile iron won the first prize of “National Scientific and Technological Progress Prize” representing the highest ductile cast iron manufacturing level of China; clay sand casting process is in the more advanced level of the same industry domestically.

With the further expanding and strengthening of Sinotruk and continuous development of Hangzhou Engine Company, the existing production capacity of the foundry factory can’t meet the need of heavy truck manufacturing of Sinotruk, and the cast quality can hardly meet the requirements of high strength and high precision of the new generation of diesel engines.  Taking the opportunity of old urban renovation and enterprise relocation of Hangzhou city and according to the general plan of Sinotruk group, while expanding producing capacity, the foundry factory must adjust the product structure, upgrade the product technical level in order to meet cast requirements of National Emission Standard III and IV of the new generation of diesel engines.

The construction of relocation and renovation project of the foundry factory will show Sinotruk speed once more.  The main joint large plant of the project is composed of cast workshop 1, cast workshop 2, cleaning workshop 1, cleaning workshop 2 and melting workshop, the cast workshops consist of 3 major steps of modeling, core making and sand treatment, and the melting workshop consists of molding step and cooling step.  As an important part of relocation and construction of Hangzhou Engine Company, the relocation and renovation project of the foundry factory bases on the premise that the foundry factory satisfies the requirements of material and accuracy for cast products on a high starting point, and in product manufacturing process, the foundry factory comprehensively satisfies the requirements of technical conditions and quality standards with the capacity; in design concept, low pollution and low energy consumption make the overall layout of the factory more economically and more environmentally, and series of technological innovations put energy saving and emissions reduction in the first place all the time, which makes the foundry factory  guarantee the market competitiveness of its products with high-level technology in batch production; in equipment selection, all of the key processes and key equipment are introduced from abroad in order to enable the quality of produced cast products to reach the same level of similar foreign products.  Besides production workshops, the project has formed a harmonious integrity in technology development, energy saving and environmental protection and the perfection of logistics and living service facilities, which effectively supports high efficiency of product producing system to ensure the sustainable development of the factory.

Ding Yueda, executive vice president of the Fourth Machine Industry Design and Research Institute, on behalf of design and construction units, delivered a speech at the ceremony.  He said that he would organize seriously, coordinate actively, allocate a strong and experienced top-management team, establish a manager group covering different professions, focus on the standardization, institutionalization and normalization of management, make the project state-of-the-art with the experiences of design and totally contract management of many years, and never disappoint expectations from the company.
On behalf of Xiaoshan Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee, Wang Weimin, secretary of the Work Committee of Xiaoshan Economic and Technological Development Zone Administrative Committee, congratulated the successful starting of the project.  He said in the future, Xiaoshan Economic and Technological Development Zone Administrative Committee would provide good service as always, implement concern and support of municipal and district leaders, and fully guarantee the smoothly promotion of the second phase of the relocation and construction project so as to help the company realize development sound and fast.

As Wang Donghui, deputy secretary of Sinotruk Party Committee, announced the start formally for the project of relocation and renovation of the foundry factoryof Sinotruk Hangzhou Engine Company, the pile-driver had its first and historical hammer drop at the scene.  In the sound of riotous gun salute and gust firecrackers, Wang Donghui, and Wang Weimin unveiled together the red silk on the foundation stone, and banked up with earth to the foundation stone with other leaders.

Local media such as Zhejiang Satellite TV, Xiaoshan Daily, Xiaoshan TV, Xiaoshan People’s Broadcasting Station site reported the starting of the construction of the project.
